Hoopla

So basically I had trouble coming up with a story these past few weeks. My first idea got rejected three times sadly :(... however, during thanksgiving break I decided on doing a story about my band and I auditioning for the talent show during sophomore year of high school. With several events I had wanted to put into this comic, and the two page limit, I had to narrow it down with a whole lot of help from John and my friends. I pulled all-nighters for the first two comps while the third one was less demanding since I solved most of my problems. In the final, I was still trying to solve a lot of design issues haha... but I did the best I could, finishing five minutes before it was due... Not bad, not bad! haha

My first batch of comps. I like these ones but I still had problems with my story. I tried adding too many events!

Changed my story a bit. I was getting somewhere with these!!

I took out our lead singer and based it on my three friends and I. I liked these ones more, but with the time I had, they weren't as refined and tight as I would've like them to be entering into the final.

And no, I don't smoke weed :P

BODY WORLDS 2

About two years ago I was fortunate enough to go onto a field trip with my physiology class to see the Body Worlds exhibit at the San Jose Tech Museum. What a blast it was! We weren't allowed to take any photographs but........who needs them? :D

enjoy!

Koudelka

Preparing a reversal takes time!

Finally all covered up!

My cheap tracing paper protection mechanism attachment of doom! "OOOOOO... AHHHHH..." :D

And...Here's the photo that I'll be loving and loathing about for the next 3 weeks!

Fly me to the moon

So this week we were assigned to use our last strip and replace the text with one of the writing assignments we had to do to get some juxtapositions. However, my last week's strip was a juxtaposition, so I asked John what I should do this time. He suggested I do new strip with a random illustration before hand and have someone randomly select one of my writings and see what I could come up with. Well here we go. Inspired by Franklin Booth + Rendering in Pen and Ink Book. :)

This is war

I must say... it's a funny thing. I usually don't get my ideas for my strips on the spot. It takes me forever to decide on what to do, even up to the morning before it's due. Well it happened once again.

Never have I ever didn't want to go back to sleep.

Tuesday morning around 1:48am, I experienced sleep paralysis to an extent. I laid in my bed 10 minutes before it happened. As my eyelids began to betray me, just instantly, I felt a cold breeze
literally wrap around my face like I was being attacked. The breeze whistled rapidly in and out of my head like killer bees. I tried YELLING out for help, but oddly, I noticed I was muted. I also couldn't move at all. It lasted no less than four seconds but from then, I stayed up for next 4 hours, scared shitless.

I'm grateful to be alive.

C&H

A mastercopy of a Calvin and Hobbes strip by Bill Waterson. Although my copy isn't perfect, it doesn't need to be. It can't be haha.
I had a real fun time putting myself into Watterson's shoes. Throughout my copy, I found it really difficult to draw Calvin aside from Hobbes. It seemed Hobbes would be more of a challenge but in the end Calvin kept my eraser busy.

Cheers.
